Cary Family Law Attorney Earns Listing In N.C. Super Lawyers Magazine

Attorney Charles H. Montgomery has earned a listing in North Carolina Super Lawyers magazine for 2009, an honor reserved for only five percent of the lawyers in the state.

Montgomery is a North Carolina board-certified specialist in family law and a Superior Court mediator. His practice emphasizes divorce, alimony, equitable distribution of property, child custody and child support.

"It's flattering to be included on this year's North Carolina Super Lawyers list," Mr. Montgomery said. "It's a recognition of our firm's professionalism and hard work on behalf of our family law clients."

The selections for Super Lawyers are made by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media, Inc., of Minneapolis, Minn. Each year, Law & Politics undertakes a multi-phase selection process that evaluates each candidate on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. The objective is to create a credible and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.

Mr. Montgomery has extensive experience in family law representing clients in interstate child custody and support litigation -- cases that involve complex applications of the Uniform Child-Custody Jurisdiction & Enforcement Act and the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act.

In addition to 35 years experience as a domestic law attorney, Mr. Montgomery has practiced commercial real property and business litigation. He has broad appellate experience before the North Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.

Mr. Montgomery received his law degree from Vanderbilt University in 1974 and an undergraduate degree with honors from Duke University in 1971.

Mr. Montgomery was a partner for 10 years in the former Raleigh, N.C., and Washington, D.C. firm of Sanford, Adams, McCullough & Beard, headed by former U.S. Sen. Terry Sanford. He served a total of nine years as a member of the Cary Town Council and the Wake County Board of Commissioners.
